OUR PRODUCTS

Spectara's technology spans two sectors — hardware instruments built on time-of-flight mass spectrometry for real-time, pathogen-agnostic detection of biothreats; and assay-based diagnostics built on molecular biomarkers for early diagnosis of devastating infections — deployed across our two missions: biosecurity and individual infection identification.

Spectara BioTOF device

HARDWARE

BioTOF finds the threat, digitalMALDI finds what others miss.

BioTOF z200

TRL-9+ Commercially Available

Precise Detection of Known Biothreats, Autonomously

Proprietary autonomous sample collection and analysis solution performing time-of-flight (ToF) mass-spectra analysis for precise readouts of the most common biothreats.

  • Accurate: >99% true identification, zero false positives of 20+ known threat agents
  • Autonomous: Operates 4+ weeks at a time without human intervention; cloud-based data management and reporting
  • Available: DHS Safety Act-designated, TRL-9 level system already deployed by the Department of War and commercially available today

digitalMALDI

TRL-7 Pilot Ready

Immediate Data on Unknown Unknowns

A triggerless time-of-flight mass spectrometer that continuously analyzes aerosol particles one by one, without reagents — delivering truly agnostic detection of biothreats, known or unknown.

  • Immediate: Particle-by-particle identification of chemical spectra leads to immediate awareness of potential threats, with as few as 5 particles triggering an alert
  • Agnostic: Spikes in similar particles are flagged as possible trouble spots, regardless of whether the threat has been previously identified
  • Validated: Deployed with the Department of Homeland Security at key critical infrastructure locations like Newark Liberty International Airport, Capital One Arena, the Washington DC Metro, and the NYC Subway

(Spectara's technology) is capable of detecting multiple forms of biological threats — vegetative bacteria, bacterial endospores, viruses, and toxins — and may allow for detection of multiple biological threat agent types in a single platform… which cannot be accomplished using current biological detection systems… [it represents] an evolutionary leap that will enable the rapid, sensitive, and specific sensing of biological threat agent aerosols.

HARDWARE-AGNOSTIC ASSAYS

A different approach: infection before symptoms

Proteaseomics

TRL-4 Product Iteration

A new methodology for diagnosing infection in healthcare settings, based on the release of proteases as an early sign of infectivity — flagging dangerous infection before symptoms appear, and well before current diagnostic methods.

  • Early: Diagnoses infections on average 8 days earlier than clinical diagnostics, and often before symptoms are present
  • Dependable: Protease-based methodology offers 90% accuracy in infection detection within 2 hours of test administration
  • Proven: Funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, CARB-X, and NIH; developed with Johns Hopkins Hospital and Oregon Health & Science University; deployed at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in both ICU and NICU settings
  • Guide appropriate antibiotic selection
  • Non-invasive breath sampling
